iboats reviews Azimut Yachts: Manufacturer of Asimut Yachts and Mega Yachts.

Azimut Yachts was opened in 1969 and is based in Avigliana, Italy. Azimut is truly an international company offering manufacturing in Italy and Brazil with a Service Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida(FL) and Sales in China. Started by Paul Vitelli, as a sail boat chartering company while he was a student at the university. Within a year he was offered the option of becoming a distributor in Italy of some well know yachting brands. Azimut quickly jumped on board and then decided to try its hand at designing a yacht in connection with Amerglass. The first model did so well, Azimut went on to design several other yachts in the lower end of the market. By 1985 Azimut bought the Benetti brand of megayachts, this brand had been in business since 1873. This move gave Azimut the background to move forward in designing new mega yachts with Azimut's innovative interiors.

Azimut was able to expand to Fano, Italy, with the purchase of a boatyard. Azimut quickly rose in the boating industry, becoming well know for quality, innovation and style. Azimut recognized that beauty was almost always the first consideration in choosing Azimut yachts. The next considerations of comfortable amenities, special features to enhance safety and the latest technology coupled with beautiful interiors.

Azimut Yachts carefully took the construction process to new levels. Using builders with excellent skills, quality materials, and cutting edge technology has become a hallmark the Azimut is know for. Soon Azimut became interested in the environment and started to explore products that had a lower impact to the environment. Azimut began to adopt the standards of RINA Green Plus and achieved ISO 14001 certification.
