The Oystercatcher is designed or the paddler who wants a sleek boat for fast touring or extended trips. This boat has a sharp, hollow bow to give a dry ride in most sea conditions, hard chines and a shallow "V" bottom and slightly flared sides for control. She is designed with an optional Fixed skeg or integral (stealth) rudder. This rudder is made as part of the hull form with nothing sticking out. All the hardware is inside the hull. Available custom built with foam seat, footbraces, flush deck fittings and 2 hatches standard and optional integral rudder. This boat uses strip built construction and can be assembled in about 140-300 hours of work. It requires two 18 foot 1x12 boards (pine, cedar, redwood or cypress) for the shell, a sheet of 1/2" plywood for the form, a bit of 1/8" or 1/4" plywood for the bulkheads and a bit of hardwood for odds and ends.
