~Sealine, keen to act on consumer demand, offered a pacy diesel engine for similar money to a US petrol variant, but backed this up with considerable style and some genuinely new design thinking. A massive Europe-wide success, the British bestseller is the yardstick for the class.
The cockpit is a massively important are on this type of boat, and the Sealine offers what feels like a larger, deeper space. The fit-out is a good mix of the sporty and the practical, with matt blue dash, table and top surfaces contrasting nicely with the white trim and glossy GRP; cleverly reminiscent of larger craft from the Sealine stable. If cruising accommodation is important to you, then the Sealine scores by way of its considerably larger, luxurious interior. Another feature that would look at home on a larger craft is the galley, fitted with a practical two-burner gas gob and grill, and an even bigger sink/drainer unit.
It is a brilliantly well-honed product that looks, feels, and cossets like a boat from the class above. The packaging and quality of the cabin is little short of genius, given the limited overall length, and in any other company its handling and performance would comfortably hold their own. That Sealine can combine all this, build it in Britain and sell it with a diesel engine for a whisker over £50,000 explains why they have, and we suspect will continue to have, the best-selling boat in its class.
