Elected Boating Magazine's 1997 Boat of the Year, the CABO 45 Express is the epitome of what it is to be CABO: quality, performance, attention to detail, and an unparalleled commitment to customer satisfaction. Built in the desert of Southern California, the CABO 45 has raised the stakes for the express sportfisher class and defined itself as the benchmark by which all other boats in the class are measured.

Designer and builder Henry Mohrschladt summed up the concept behind the CABO 45 Express, "More amenities, more room for bait, fish, live bait and rod storage, but with the quality of our smaller boats. That is what our customers told us they wanted." Ask and ye shall receive, the CABO 45 Express is so well executed that its hard to see how anyone could not want to get their hands on this boat.

The CABO 45 Express was introduced to fulfill the needs of CABO owners desiring a larger replacement for their smaller CABO's, in the process of filling this niche, the 45 has effectively established the definition for the large express class.

Fishability
Because of its added size and its luxurious interior accommodations, it would be easy to forget that the CABO 45 Express is a serious sportfisher. You won't believe what the 45 Express is capable of when chasing down a fish. The 45 turns on a dime, backs down like no other and even in the roughest of seas, stays right where you put her. And, because of her wide beam, modified-V bottom and low center of gravity, the CABO is a fighting platform with unequaled stability in all sea conditions.

Exterior
CABO Yachts has made an unparalleled reputation for itself in the sportfishing community by combining ground breaking innovative design with a near fanatical commitment to quality. The CABO 45 Express is the next step forward for CABO; its larger size and luxurious accommodations are designed to provide sportfishermen who recognize the benefits of the CABO name with the world class sportfisher they deserve.

The design of the Cabo 45 is truly bulletproof. From the fiberglassed and bronze throughbolted hull to deck joint to the custom all fiberglass construction of the fuel tanks, the CABO is designed to easily outlast even the harshest of conditions and cruise away unscathed.

The CABO's performance at sea has been described as smooth and predictable, it tracks perfectly in seas that send many of its competitors heading for shore. With a maximum cruising range of well over 300 statute miles, top speed of 36.6 mph, and a cruising speed of nearly 30 mph, it's clear that size is in no way a compromise for performance. This seaworthiness is outshined only by the CABO 45 Express's close quarters handling. Superb visibility astern and single lever electronic controls insure that maneuvering the 45 Express into its slip is effortless.

Helm
The helm on the CABO 45 Express reflects its larger size with more room for both pilot and passengers. The 45's bridge deck is simply huge, it can easily accommodate a cruising party of 15 to 20. To ensure that both you and your shipmates are comfortable, the 45 Express' windshield comes equipped with an electrically operated center vent as standard equipment. The large three paned windshield comes with large wipers on each pane to insure that you'll always have unobstructed visibility. The custom designed fiberglass console has more than enough room to flush mount all of your electronics.

Cockpit
CABO has designed the 45 Express to offer unmatched luxury as an express cruiser, but the big CABO doesn't stop there. The heart of this yacht is still very much that of a dedicated sportfisher. The 45 Express comes standard with every fishing amenity even the most demanding angler could want. The 15'8" beam offers almost 100 square feet of fish fighting room. As with all of the CABO sportfishers, the 45's foredeck is covered in a diamond pattern nonskid surface imported from England, even under the wettest conditions, you'll be able to cast from the pulpit with confidence and security. A large in-transom livewell has a large clear Lucite window that allows you to easily check on the condition and supply of live bait, and your thighs will appreciate the transom's heavily padded leading edge. Tremendous fish boxes are built into the cockpit sole both to port and starboard which are equipped with gas shock controlled hatches and CABO's famous airtight seals.

Interior
Five star best describes the accommodations aboard the CABO 45 Express. Everywhere you turn the flawless book-matched woods and blemish free finishes gleam in the custom designed halogen lighting. Standard Ultraleather upholstery and six speaker sound system from Bose take the CABO 45 Express well beyond the spartan fishing machine category.

A fore and aft queen size berth in the forward cabin allows plenty of room on each side to make up the berth, as well as to access the signature CABO rod storage cabinetry with cross hatch ventilation panels. The galley and full head with shower feature Corian countertops with custom sea-rails, and Moen fixtures. Children or extra guests will appreciate the comfortable extra large settee on the salon's port side. To keep your Express's interior in ship shape, there is even a built in vacuum system.

Power Plant
The CABO 45 Express derives its enormous power from optional twin inboard Caterpillar 3406 diesels that produce a wave grinding 800 HP a piece, and for hulls delivered in 1999, 2000+ HP will be attainable thanks to Twin MAN 2840LE403s. The size of these engines is easily taken in by the 45 Express's enormous engine-room, gelcoated to a finish that most of our competition would envy for their galleys. Easy access to all sides of both power plants was a main design criteria for the 45 Express. All systems are readily reachable and the precise labeling of every wire and hose makes maintenance a snap.

The design and construction of the 45's superstructure easily accommodates the added weight of the huge Cat diesels by reinforcing the already strong solid-glass bottom with fir cores. The power plants are mounted on engine length L-shaped aluminum angles and hefty plates of steel barstock, through bolted sideways for strength with shock mounts for smooth running.
