In 1969, two research scientists created a fiber that combined unmatched strength, lightweight, and flexibility, and could be offered in a variety of forms. The company was DuPont, and the technology was Kevlar. One of the most remarkable man-made organic fibers ever developed, Kevlar is used today in a variety of industrial applications. Kevlar and Carbon Fiber technology requires fewer layers to be equally as strong as fiberglass, yet weighs much less.
