This 2005 Arundel Express 27, is located in Stratford, CT and powered by a Volvo D4 diesel driving a duo-prop outdrive. The quiet, fuel-efficient, freshwater-cooled diesel is known for the lowest emissions in the industry, has been maintained by Volvo certified mechanics, and has seen limited usage with a total of 85 engine hours! Docking is a breeze with the bow thruster installed in 2013.
"HOP'S” is being reluctantly offered for sale as the owner's growing family requires a larger boat.
This is a unique opportunity to own one of only 10 of these beautiful Arundel Express 27's ever built, and only the third to find it's way to the open marketplace. “HOP'S” has been meticulously maintained by her second owner, with over $50K of upgrades in 2011, 2012 & 2013.
Similar to the 29' Hinckley picnic boats, the Arundel Express has the same exceptional good looks, fine aesthetic finish, style, and "sports car" handling performance in moderate sea conditions. However, she also includes the comfortable cockpit seating, a full cabin and head amenities for overnight cruising not found in the Hinckley picnic cruisers of similar size.
Custom hand-built by The Landing School, the Arundel 27 is a marriage of handsome, traditional design and modern construction techniques using composite materials that protect it from the elements. The hull is cold-molded using West System epoxies over laminated layers of marine plywood and Western red cedar and a mahogany transom.
This boat cruises up to 31 knots, and features a hull design that allows owners to cruise safely through shallow waters, with a 14-½-inch draft. The teak swim platform with folding ladder (new in 2013) makes a pleasant swim easy.
The spacious cockpit features two captain's seats forward, custom aft-facing jump seats port & starboard, a large athwartships bench at the rear of the cockpit, and a cushioned sunpad aft. The cockpit is protected from the elements by a large windscreen, cockpit coamings, coach roof, coach roof sides, and a bimini top with removable side screens and rear drop curtain that connects to the windscreen for full protection when the weather turns bad. Steering, engine controls, electronics and navigation instruments are mounted in a helm console built into the cabin's starboard aft bulkhead and coach roof. The cockpit sole is cored fiberglass with scuppers at the rear sides and fully weather-tight access hatches, with a custom teak deck.
The interior of the Arundel 27 features a forward V-berth with a fully enclosed head to starboard and a galley with pressurized water to port. Interior finish is applied to the highest yacht standards in the Herreschoff-style with bright mahogany fiddles and cappings, hardwood fronts and drawers on all cabinetry, and marine ply cabin sole finished with a teak and holly veneer. The cabin is well-lighted via a large overhead Bomar stainless steel framed hatch in the coach roof, four screened portlights in the cabin sides, and well-placed electric lighting. Much of the boat's interior furniture, which is constructed from solid timber and marine plywood, is designed to contribute to the vessel's overall structural strength and integrity. Access to the forward cabin from the cockpit is via a hatch which lifts off and bi-fold, paneled doors hung on cast stainless steel hinges.
She's ready to go, just out of the water with the mooring cover on and stored indoors on her 2011 trailer.
"Hop's" is a real eye-catcher, but is easily maintained thanks to the use of modern, durable epoxies and finishes. If you are looking for a handsome Downeast-style, which is fast and efficient, look no further.
