This 2001 29 ft SHAMROCK 290 Grand Slam powered by twin Crusader 5.7 L Captains Choice MPIs (2004 with 350 hours) located in Clinton, CT is set up for offshore fishing and perfect for serious fishermen. Repowered under warranty by Crusader in 2004, these engines have a mere 350 hours on them while the boat has 775 hours on the clock. Equipped with the Grand Slam Fishing Package, this express soft top features Rupp Top Gun outriggers and a Rupp center rigger, flat lines, a 38 gallon live well, bait prep station with fresh water, five tackle drawers, huge insulated fish box with macerator pump out, ice storage bin, and the all important tuna door. This boat defines the pocket canyon rocket. Speedy enough to get offshore fast, economical to troll, and steady on the drift. Nothing is more stable in all sea conditions than direct drive inboard powered boats. Lowering the center of gravity by having the motors mounted low and in the middle of the boat provides a stable and secure platform.

 

 

Shamrocks have long been favorite New England fishing boats. Shamrock is noted for their hand laid fiberglass hull, fiberglass encapsulated composite stringers and box type deck and hull fit. The 290 Grand Slam was in production from 1999 to 2003 and enjoys the well earned Shamrock reputation as a heavily built walk around cabin with a smooth riding deep V hull. This soft top express cruiser is one part fishing boat and one part family cruiser with the surprisingly large cabin with complete galley, enclosed head, and berths for four.

 

The Shamrock 290 GS Walk around cabin features cherry wood cabinetry, hanging locker, dinette, and sleeping for four (the back of the lounge seat flips up to become a sleeping bunk). The enclosed, standup head has a sink, vanity, shower, and opening port. The galley includes a microwave, a sink, an electric stove, a refrigerator, a storage cabinet, and drawers. Air Conditioning and reverse cycle heat contribute to three season fishing or cruising.

On deck, the high-tech helm features full instrumentation, dual binnacle controls, and plenty of room to accommodate optional electronics. The large walk-around allows easy access to the bow area, which has an anchor locker, dunnage box, and forward seating. The power actuated engine hatch makes engine inspections easy. Five batteries, a 3000 watt inverter, heavy duty battery charger all make for a comfortable boat on even extended trips.

Sea Quest is in excellent condition. The Captain’s Choice 5.7 L MPI Crusaders were replaced under warranty in 2004 and are as reliable a gasoline engine as one can put in these 290 WA Shamrocks. The interior upholstery is as good as it looks in the photos. New snap in carpets dress up below decks. Above decks, the soft top and associated canvas is in excellent shape. The cockpit bolsters are well worn, while the cockpit and the decks are in pristine condition.
