Extremely clean and updated Freedom Yachts 45 Center Cockpit.

Freedom captures for its many owners the true pleasures of sailing.
If you are looking for a yacht that is up to the challenges of offshore passage-making, if you are looking for one that is quick enough to provide a spirited voyage and one that is extremely comforable and pleasing to the eye, look to the Freedom 45.

This 1993 Freedom 45 CC is a very nice example of the Gary Mull proven passage-maker center cockpit design. Known for excellent performance and ease of handling, Freedom 45's have cruised short-handed extensively including at least two circumnavigations. Her current owner of five years has taken meticulous care of her and has gone beyond the standards in areas of boat maintenance. A quarter-sawn, varnished, ash wood interior is bright and cheerful. Two private staterooms, two heads with showers, a sit-down navigation station and large salon and galley provide the accommodations one needs for an extended cruise or live-aboard use.

Accommodations:

INTERIOR

 The center cockpit format of the Freedom 45 produces a fine two couple cruising layout with two private staterooms.  A roomy elegant interior that also allows for comfortably sleeping six adults in the three cabins.  6’6” headroom in the main saloon, 6’2” in staterooms.  The forward cabin features a large V-berth *with insert).  There is a hanging locker (to Port) and built in drawers providing ample storage with three opening ports and overhead Lewmar hatch for ambient light and ventilation.  There is private access to the forward head and shower.  This head features a vacuflush electric system (into a 25 gallon holding tank).  The head also has vanity with sink, mirror, a shower with plenty of headroom and teak grate, an opening hatch and port.  The starboard side forward head also has a door to the main salon.  The expansive main saloon has an L-shaped  settee to starboard with a teak table which opens out across the cabin.  Opposite and to port is a straight settee with stowage beneath, lockers and shelves above and outboard.  To port and forward in the main salon is the entertainment center with built in TV, DVD player, CD player and FM/AM/Sirius radio.  Royal blue ultra suede upholstery with custions.  Abaft the portside settee is the galley.  Opposite the galley and to starboard is a large full sized, well equipped seagoing navigation station with chart table and pull out chair.  In the main salon there are four opening ports, four fixed ports and two overhead Lewmar hatches.  Heading aft along a passageway to starboard there is an electrical distribution center inboard to ones left and opposite is a 5.5 cubic squart ft. dedicated Grunert freezer.  The after stateroom has a queen sized centerline berth, vanity locker, large cedar lined hanging locker, drawers and bureaus outboard.  There are seven opening ports and an overhead hatch in the aft cabin.  To port is access to a private en suite head.  This features a shower and vanity, a manual added in main saloon, fans in each cabin.  The stateroom has had a recent bedding upgrade.  The numerous drawers and cabinets feature positive locking systems.  Teak and holly sole.  Cherry bulkheads, cherry/ash interior.

 

 

GALLEY

The spacious U shaped galley is abaft the portside settee / berth and adjacent to the companionway.  Ample countertop space and storage for provisions, pots and pans and dinnerware in locers drawers and shelving outboard.

DECK, HULL AND DECK EQUIPMENT

Hull #49 out of 56 Freedom 45s built of 47 were center cockpit models.  Hand built fiberglass hull and deck, in white Awlgrip (2005).  Fiberglass rub rail with stainless nosing, dark blue boot stripes.  Tan non-sikd decks.  All areas of deck are open and free of obstructions because of the free standing carbon mast with no stays.  Large foredeck anchor locker.  Lockers in aft deck for lines and propane tanks.  Wing Keel.  Teak coaming around cockpit.  Hatch lenses replaced 2005/2006.

SAILS AND RIGGING

Sail area 873 square feet.  Carbon fiber mast stepped on keel and painted white with aluminum boom (no standing rigging)..  Full battened UK mainsail (new in 1998) with lazy jacks (custom mainsail bag) and UK jib (new in 1999) on Furlex roller furling (Original club footed jib available, new in 1998, but only used for one season).  All new running rigging in 2007.

12 vold DC and 110 AC systems run custom Bass breaker panel inboard from the nav station (AC) and DC panel adjacent to nav station.  Dual battery switches.  Two battery banks with three batteries.  Alternators on engine charge batteries.  Heart Inverter / charger.  Foredeck light, navigational lights.

 

MECHANICAL DETAILS

Yanmar 75 HP diesel, model 4JH2-HT E with under 3,500 hours (523 on new tachometer).  Engine access is excellent with surrounding doors on all sides.  Lighted engine room which is well insulated and with this and the Yanmar engine she runs quietly.
