Ron Holland designed the hull and Garry Hoyt the interior and of course, gave it his signature unstayed rig. The 39 though is rigged as a schooner. By dividing the sailplan each sail becomes smaller and more managable. This boat is a pilot house version with an inside steering station plus increased visibility.

Accommodations:
The Pilot House permits full headroom and beautiful visibility in the main salon. As you enter from the cockpit down the curved staircase, are the navigation station and chart table. These rest on top of a series of drawers and lockers--space for tools and charts. The interior helm is just forward with full controls and electronics. Across, to port, you have the u-shaped dinette with table that drops to make a double berth. The Yanmar engine is below the cabin sole. With the floor boards removed there is easy access to all systems. Aft is the owner's cabin. Stepping down a double berth is to starboard and a head to port all with plentiful headroom. The galley, forward and to port of the salon has it all; double SS sink mechanical refrigeration propane oven. Larger than most, this galley is open to the salon. A walk-in shower is part ofthe forward head, across from the galley. Up forward the guest cabin has a v-berth,
lockers, drawers and a mini fridge. Great attention has been paid to light and ventilation. The boat is open light and airy.
Rigging and Sails:
The unstayed cat rig is the trademark of Freedom Yachts. The 39 has here rig split betwee two mast making each sail more manageable. And she is set up as a cat/schooner with the main larger than the foresail. All lines are lead to the cockpit and because of the simplicity only two winches are needed. With no jib you can short tack into any harbor with "no sweat."
